Seagulls miss out on 3 big transfer targets

Posted in News | By Wilka

Albion chairman Dick Knight has revealed that Albion missed out on three big transfer targets yesterday as the transfer deadline passed. Firstly a £100,000 big for Hull City striker Nicky Forster was turned down after the former Ipswich Town striker forced his way back into the first team and started to find some form.

Two bids were also placed for Millwall striker Darren Byfield, starting at £150,000 and increased to £165,000, but in the end our League One rivals were asking for £300,000 a price Albion were not prepared to pay.

The closest the Seagulls came to making that elusive striker signing came from another League One rival as the Albion agreed a £150,000 transfer for the divisions top goalscoer in Leon Constantine from Port Vale.

Dick Knight negotiated a contract with Constantine’s agent, but despite the clubs best efforts the player turned down the move as he hopes to leave Vale for a Championship side in the summer.

One striker on the move out of the Withdean is Meheta Molango who was released by mutual consent leaving the 12 second wonder to join up with non-league Grays Athletic.
