Albion release Carpenter
Posted in News | By WilkaAfter 7 years with the Seagulls 34-year-old midfielder Richard Carpenter has today been released by mutual consent confirming the rumours that have been around all week.
First team opertunities have been hard to come by for Chippy this season with just 13 starts and 2 substitute appearances.
Suspension and injuries have not helped the former Cardiff midfielder, but the emergence of so many talented young midfielders has meant Carpenter has been overlooked in the past few weeks and at this part of his career it’s important he is playing regular football.
Overall this season when Carpenter has played in the first team his performances have not been as good as they have been over the years and many supporters were expecting the popular midfielder to move on at the end of the season.
In his 7 years with the club Carpenter has played in 3 different divisions, seen 3 promotions, 2 championships and 2 relegations.
A great servant to the club who leaves behind some great memories. Goodbye Chippy and thanks for everything. I think I speak for every Albion fan when I wish you all the very best for the future!
