Gillingham Preview

Posted in Previews | By Wilka

GillinghamThis evening the Seagulls travel to their old landlords Gillingham hoping to make it 3 wins on the trot following Saturday’s 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.

Both teams seam fairly evenly matched if you look at it on paper with both teams on 42 league points so far this season. The one major difference between the two sides is their home form. While Gillingham have won 10 times so far this season at the Priestfield the Seagulls have only managed 5 wins at the Withdean.

Away from home the form has been a different story for the Albion who’s away form is right up there with the best in the Division. So a good away record will come up against a solid home record tonight.

A quick look at the League One table also shows that in defence Gillingham do concede a lot of goals with their goal difference -14. In their last 5 league outings the Gills have won twice, drawn once and lost twice.

The fact that Seagulls spent two years groundsharing with the Kent club is not the only connection between the two clubs. On the playing front the Seagulls have two ex Gillingham player expected to line up tonight in Guy Butters and most recently Bas Savage who joined Albion from the Gills in January.

Gillingham also have a few players with Albion connections in their squad with Trinidad & Tobago pair Brent Sancho and Kelvin Jack both having short trail spells with the Seagulls before moving on.
