Albion 0-0 Huddersfield

The Seagulls are fast becoming League One draw specialists following yesterday’s 0-0 draw at home to Huddersfield making it 4 draws in a row. It was a dire game lacking much in the way of talking points other than the dismissal of Frank Sinclair.

I’m going to keep this match report very brief! For one there wasn’t much to report in the first place and also due to the levels of boredom during that game I’m not sure I can remember many of “major incidents” anymore. But here goes!
On paper this is exactly how the game should have panned out. Huddersfield are stuck in midtable along with the Seagulls with only a mild threat of relegation hanging over both sides and the play offs out of the question so with nothing really to play for the games are starting to have a end of season feel to them.
Put Albion against the likes of Nottingham Forrest or Scunthorpe and they perform, but up against the lesser teams in the division we have largely disappointed this season.
The best chance of the first half came from a Huddersfield free kick which was taken too quickly for the referee’s liking and wouldn’t have counted anyway. Joe Skarz curling in an inviting ball which Andy Booth headed just over the bar. Skarz earned himself a yellow card for his offence with referee Mike Jones throwing yellow cards around at will.
Albion’s best chance of the entire game fell to the disappointing Jake Robinson early in the second half, but the young striker fired over the bar from close range after Alex Revell’s cut back bobbled at the vital moment.
The visitors came the closest of either side to taking all three points when Jonathan Worthington forced Scott Flinders into a good save midway though the half when he broke into the box before firing a powerful shot from a tight angle which Flinders pushed over the bar.
And to the games BIG talking point! 64 minutes had gone and former Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair was sent off after he needlessly took down Adam El-Abd as he broke forward and the big defender received his second yellow card. His first had come for talking back to the referee after an offside decision hasn’t gone his way.
Neither side deserved to take three points. The 5,974 in attendance left the ground safe in the knowledge they could surely enjoy a fine performance from England in the evening…… Oh well not the best days football then!
